Thundamentals have been busy lads in the last month – they toured their new single ‘My Lady’ to packed houses throughout Sydney, Katoomba, Melbourne and Brisbane, and are fresh back from their first International tour ever – a run of shows in tropical New Caledonia. They are next headlining The RE-UP Festival in Sydney on Anzac Day, the line-up is massive and tickets are selling fast so get in early!
Sunday April 25th @ THE RE-UP FESTIVAL feat. Def Wish Cast, Dialectrix and many more.
Blue Mountains hip-hop 4 piece Thundamentals are back on the airwaves, and East Coast stages from Brisbane to Melbourne this February with the launch of ‘My Lady’. The 3rd single from their debut album Sleeping On Your Style – a Latin/Soul infused tune featuring Sydney neo-soul sensation Ray Mann on guest vocals – proves why SMH Metro has dubbed Thundamentals one of the Top 10 live acts to watch in 2010.
Bursting onto an explosive Australian hip hop scene in 2009, Sleeping On Your Style
garnered attention for its outstanding production, eclectic musical influences and
compelling rhymes. From the Cairns Post’s effusive, “…hands down (my) hip hop album of the year…one of the most engaging listens…in any genre”, to the Hobart Mercury’s
summation that “these four lads are the brightest young stars on the block”, praise flowed
as smoothly as the rhymes – 3D World deftly labelled it “…an extremely worthy piece of
art”.

2009 was a productive year: 3 national tours that saw Thundamentals headline, as well as
share stages with the likes of Lyrics Born (USA), Drapht and Astronomy Class. Both singles (‘Move It Up’ and ‘The Mash’) made Triple J high rotation; Thundamentals were featured as a ‘Next Crop Artist’ as part of Oz Music Month, with Dom Allesio hailing them as “…one
of the more exciting Aussie hip hop outfits to emerge in the past few years”. Support from iTunes followed the Triple J buzz – after naming ‘The Mash’ Single of the Week, Thundamentals were invited to record an exclusive live EP for fans and competition winners at Sydney’s iTunes store – and then MTV got on board, championing the band as
one of the next big up and comers in the Australian hip hop scene.
2010 seems set to fill those shoes, and more. Just weeks into the new year, Thundamentals have already had massive performances at Peats Ridge Festival and Sydney Festival First Night, supported by their SMH praise.

For four years Thundamentals have been creating a unique brand of Hip Hop combining sampology with live elements, inspired by “golden era hip hop”, reggae, latin, funk, soul, world and psychedelic.
Originating in the Ozzie hip hop breeding ground of the Blue Mountains, DJ Morgs, Tommy Fiasko, MC Tuka and Jeswon set out to give a predictable hip hop scene an overhaul.
What sets Thundamentals apart is their dedication to composition; theirs is not a rap show, musicianship and quality of sound is forefront.
Their beats are charismatic and mostly sample based, layered with rich synth textures resulting in a sound both unique and classically hip hop.
MC Tuka and Jeswon are seasoned veterans of freestyling, appearing on Triple J’s Hip Hop Show. Their raps are cheeky, technical, rhythm heavy declarations throwing cheap shots at social issues. Thundamentals is party music with intelligence; that guy who is still quick witted after 10 beers.
Over the last two years Thundamentals have played alongside international acts such as Qbert, Super Natural, Z-Trip, Jungle Brothers, DJ Revolution, MC Soup (Jurassic 5) Swollen Members, Lotek, Braintax, MC Mystro and DJ MK (Roots Manuva).
They have also performed with some of Australia’s premier hip hop acts such as the almighty Down Under Beats Crew, The Herd, Bliss and Eso, Hermitude, TZU, Koolism, Astronomy Class, Muph ‘n Plutonic, Delta, The Tongue, DJ Diaz and Immune.
They are now primarily Sydney based and are working on pushing their music to the masses. As well as their commitment to juvenile and disability fundraising and community work, the boys are always busy. Tommy Fiasko has done official remixes for Dr Octagon and Arrested Development, MC Tuka’s lead vocals for local reggae/funk/hip hop band Rumpunch and Jeswon and DJ Morgs’s work with acts such as Down Under Beats, Chasm, Two Toes, Mc Immune and Lotek.
With Thundamentals, Australia will see a diverse and innovative hip hop show, a taste of an exciting future in Ozzie hip hop.
“Thundamentals shows that Ozzie hip hop is heading in the right direction” Mike G of Jungle Brothers.
